Playing Making Recording is an ongoing class offered through The Public School, Philadelphia and exists as a series of concentrated music making and recording experiments. Each open door session invites a revolving group of partcipants to come play, compose and record a series of songs during the weekend long intensive. Musicians of all kinds and levels of proficiency were invited to attend and contribute.

The Institute for Advanced Architecture is pleased to present a glimpse into one of its latest projects, The American Funeral Home. With this project, the Institute has undertaken a survey of the nation’s memorial spaces, and in partnership with BASEKAMP of Philadelphia, is now making this presentation accessible to the public.

David Dempewolf, Justin Matherly, Scott Rigby, and Leigh Stevens will create an installation in the Morris Gallery conceiving the Pensylvania Academy’s Museum as sideshow, themepark, and historical landmark. Their project, Dirty Deeds (re)Done Dirt Cheap, is a site specific commentary on the dual role museums play as both repositories of venerable art and as sites of Disney-inspired entertainment. This show consisted of four full sized copies of Sol LeWitt’s “wall murals” from the artists exhibition of Black and Colors that was on exhibition concurrently at the ICA in Philadelphia. Accompanying these murals were life size dye sublimation prints of student laborers who were hired to help produce the original work.
